Red Nose Day
Red Nose Day is a day like no other when the whole country gets together to do something funny for money and change countless lives in the process.
It all culminates in a night of cracking TV on the BBC with some of the biggest names in comedy and entertainment.
And the best bit? All the fun and mayhem helps to raise cash and transform lives across the UK and Africa.
Staff at David Allen have entered into the true spirit of Comic Relief and have raised over £200.00 by baking cakes, pick a pose and a fancy dress competition.Sara Deans
Will you pledge £10 to see David Allen jump from a plane?
A sponsored skydive is a daring and impressive means of raising money for charity. On Sunday 17 April 2011, several leading business people are taking part in a sky dive to raise funds for the Mayor of Carlisle’s Charities, Carlisle Youth Zone, Henry Lonsdale Trust and the Living Well Trust - the main beneficiary being Carlisle Youth Zone.
The New Carlisle Youth Zone will open in April 2011 at Victoria Place, Carlisle and will be a fantastic, world class facility with a wide range of activities for young people aged 8 to 21 years or older in some circumstances. It will be open every day until 10pm and will provide a bright, modern, safe, accessible and affordable place that will give inspiration to young people.
David Allen, Jaimi Wilson and David’s daughter Rebecca will experience the rush and amazing beauty of freefall from 14,500ft at around 120 mph.
All those who know David are hugely impressed that he is willing to quite literally, jump out of an aeroplane to raise money for the Mayor of Carlisle’s Charities and it’s certainly something he’ll remember for the rest of his life.
To support David and the team, please download the attached sponsorship form and forward, with payment to Alison Welton at our Dalston Office or call 01228 711 888 to make a donation via a debit or credit card.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants Dinner
The highlight of the Cumberland Society’s social calendar took place on Friday 11 March 2011. I, together with several esteemed colleagues attended the annual Chartered Accountants dinner at the Greenhill Hotel.
More than 50 members were present, including Dodd's, Armstrong Watson, and many more accountancy firms in the Cumbrian district.
Entertainment
was provided by Frances Edmonds… best-selling author and an acknowledged expert in the business of cross-cultural communication. She specialises in working with multinational and multi-cultural organisations as both a keynote speaker and moderator. An inspirational, humorous and engaging presenter, Frances has also been voted Britain’s most entertaining female after-dinner speaker in a recent survey by The Times. She gave a light-hearted insight into her discussions with the former England cricketer Phil Edmonds and her time as an international conference interpreter.
Overall the night was a lot of fun and was enjoyed by all. We ate great food, revelled in good company and were on the receiving end of some fantastic entertainment... which from what I hear is not ‘normal’ for these type of dinners. The only thing that was missing was music to get everybody up and doing the 'Conga'. Chris Claux
